At Cherry Hinton Baptist Church (CHBC) our mission is rooted in God loving and forgiving us. God does this in spite of the way we cause suffering to others. In loving and forgiving us, God acts to rescue us from this suffering.
In experiencing God’s love and forgiveness, we, at CHBC, are inspired to rescue others by developing, in our church community and families, habits and actions of love that restores God’s peace and justice. The bible teaches us to look not to our interests but to the interests of others (Philippians 2:5), and to love in action and in truth (1 John 3:18). Therefore we seek and pray to develop and nurture habits of loving peace to relieve the sadness, loneliness, decay, and brokenness that so many of us experience in today’s world.
This website contains more information about what we’re learning about God. Most of the ways in which we put into practice what we learn is found in our individual lives. However, we hope that it is found in what we’re doing as a church in our community
