Being Church

Introduction

Any group of Christians, meeting intentionally in the name of Jesus (Matthew 18:20), is acting as a church. This may very well take place at home, at work and in a variety of social groups. This also includes all other churches both Baptist and otherwise.

It seems to be the New Testament model that people belong to a community in which has a focus on teaching, prayer, fellowship and service enabling people to freely repent and believe. (Acts 2:42,45)

Paul says that “we were all baptised by one Spirit into one body … and we were all given the one Spirit to drink”. (1 Corinthians 12:12). and “In Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts [which each should use]” (Romans 12:5-6)

The way in which Cherry Hinton Baptist Church currently summarise our vision of being church is that we are "Seeking faithfully to love God with all our heart, soul, strength and mind and to love our neighbours as ourselves" (based on Luke 10:27)
